best time to travel to sikkim

sikkim is a beautiful state and every season has something unique to offer to the tourists. as per sikkim tourism, the best time to visit sikkim is either between march and june or october and mid-december. a brief description of each seasons are given below:

summer or spring: it is best time to witness in its most colourful form. spring usually starts in march and ends by may. however because of summer vacation in most parts of the country, the peak season extends to mid of june. the lampokhari festival happens during this period.  because of pleasant weather, tourists can enjoy host of outdoor activities like white water rafting at teesta river. infact whole of sikkim including north sikkim is accessible during this period.

autumn (october to december) is the best period to enjoy unparalleled views of himalayan range. festivals like diwali and dussehra are celebrated with great fervour here.

in winters tourists will witness parts of sikkim roads and himalayan peaks covered with thick snow. most parts of sikkim face snow during the winter months from december to february.

monsoon (july to september) is an off-season and hotels offer good discounts during this period. because of landslides in several areas of the state, large interior parts of the state become inaccessible.
