pashupatinath temple: pashupatinath temple, a world heritage site, located on the banks of the bagmati river close to the airport is considered as one of the most important pilgrimages sites for hindu devotees all around the world. the structure is famous for newari architecture. literarily pashupatinath means lord of all the living things. as per hindu beliefs, pilgrimage to the four dhams of india like dwarka, kedarnath, rameshwaram and jagannath of india becomes meaningful only after a final darshan of pashupatinath and by a taking a holy dip in the bagmati river. pashupatinath courtyard may be entered by those of hindu faith only. non-hindu are strictly prohibited from entering the temple. in the complex, temples dedicated to several other hindu and buddhist gods are also present.
