doleshwar mahadev : located around 22 kms from kathmandu and 60 mins to 75 minutes drive, this holy place is located 4 km south of jagati, bhaktapur which is believed to be the head of kedarnath temple. on 22^nd august 2009 the doleshwar mahadev was officially declared as the head of kedarnath by jagat guru bheemashaankarling shivacharya, the head priest of kedarnath. the gates of the temple are opened only on three occasions in a year – shivaratri, akshaya tritiya, and once on the nepali month of bhadra to mark the day sacred rock was declared to be the head of kedarnath mahadev. on balance days they have to worship from outside the gate.
