one of the most picturesque destinations of nepal and its tourism capital. this is nepal’s second largest tourist destination after kathmandu and also its adventure capital. the beauty of pokhara with the mountains in the vicinity is increased by its lovely lakes. it is not a historical or heritage site but it is a land of natural beauty with lakes and mountains which makes up for pokhara’s lack of sites of historical significance. the world highest peaks like annapurna, dhaulagiri and manaslu can be seen very close on clear sunny days. with more than seven beautiful lakes, it is also said to be lake city of nepal. visitors will be amazed to know that there is a decline of 6,000 m in altitude within a short distance of only 29 kms. the monsoon season which lasts from mid-june to mid-september is very wet; in fact pokhara records the highest rainfall in the country.
