changangkha monastery (located in sevina lam, thimphu): one of the oldest and popular fortress which was by lama phajo drukgom shipo who came from ralung in tibet. here new born babies are taken by their parents to be blessed by the protector deity tamdrin. children are blessed by a ritual dagger and given a sacred thread. from the courtyard we can see good views thimphu. this monastery is a great example of bhutanese faith, tradition and architecture. the central statue in the temple represents avaloketesvara, buddha of compassion, with 11 heads and a thousand hands.
