paro

lying on the banks of paro (pa) chhu river and at an elevation of 2,280 mts, paro is one of the best bhutanese town to visit on feet. the main street of paro is a classical example of traditional wooden structures which features richly decorated buildings which houses hotels, small shops, restaurants and many more. paro valley extends from from the confluence of the paro chhu and the wang chhu rivers at chuzom upto mt. jomolhari at the tibetan border to the north. it has country’s only international airport. paro is an historic town with many sacred sites and historical building. it is home to taktsang monastery, the most famous attraction of bhutan.
