mawlynnong a small village located around 90 km from shillong has been declared as cleanest village in asia in 2003 by discovery india. the village also has taken community-based ecotourism initiative where entire village collectively maintains the cleanliness of the village. it offers view of lush green valleys and boasts of 100% literacy rate. there are mawlynnong waterfalls which are another tourist attractions here.
