balpakram national park located about 167 kms from tura at an altitude of 3000 feet, the park is at an altitude of about 3,000 feet. park has wide variety of species of fauna and flora which includes lesser panda and the indian bison. rare medicinal herbs, known as ‘dikges’, also grow here. there is a deep gorge here which is referred to as the ‘land of the spirits’. as per belief spirits of the dead people stay here temporarily before embarking on the journey towards their final destination.
