shonga-tser lake located about 47 km from tawang, this beautiful lake is famously known as madhuri lake after a scene from movie koyla was shot here. as per the belief an earthquake followed by flash floods led to the formation of shonga-tser lake in 1971 which was a grassland till then. it is one of the remotest lakes of the country and perhaps of the world.  it is located at an altitude of 12,000 ft and is tucked between mountains. buddhist prayer flags fluttering in the wind can be seen which are tied around the trees and sides of this lake.
