culture of arunachal pradesh reflects in food eaten by locals. food eaten by them have been passed down from generations after generations and differs from tribe to tribe. rice is the staple food. bamboo shoots are also widely eaten across arunachal pradesh. some of the key delicacies here include:

 

  • chura sabji, a curry made from fermented cheese of cow’s or yak’s milk with some vegetables added to it
  • pasa, fish curry had with rice
  • momos which can be had vegetarian or non vegetarian
  • wungwut ngam, a chicken dish made with rice powder
  • pehak, a paste or chutney made from fermented soya bean and chillies best had with rice
  • lukter, combination of beef with bhut jolokia (one of the spicest chillies in the world) had with rice
  • pika pila made with pork, bamboo shoots and chillies
  • apong, a local home made rice beer
  • millet, acholohic millet based drink.
