ujjayanta palace, built in indo-greek style by maharaja radhakishore manikya during 1899-1901.the name, ujjayanta palace was suggested by nobel laureate rabindranath tagore. there is a throne room, durbar hall, reception hall and library. it is now a museum which depicts lifestyle, art, culture, tradition and utility crafts various communities. some of the major temples inside the complex include

  • krishna mandir, also known as laxmi narayan temple, is located near the main entrance of ujjayanta palace, it is visited by thousands of tourists every day. the temple is an example of glorious rein of kings of tripura.
  • ummaneshwar temple, located inside ujjayanta palace is dedicated to goddess durga resembling bengal architecture and is orange in color.
  • jagannath temple is located in the ujjayanta palace complex on the banks of dighi lake. the temple’s architecture is a mixture of hindu and islamic styles. the temple has octagonal base with four stories and is adorned with bright orange shikharas. it is dedicated to lord jagannath, his brother lord balabhadra and his sister goddess subhadra.
