taktsang gompa, meaning tiger’s den, is located at an altitude of about 12,500 feet on a ridge of a hillock. as per the belief in 8th century guru padmasambhava also known as guru rinpoche visited here and meditated in the caves for some time. it is about 50 kms from tawang. visitors can walk down the stairs at the back of the main complex to visit the lair of guru padmasambhava
