assam state zoo and botanical garden is located inside the hengerbari reserved forest, situated in the outskirts of the city of guwahati. it houses more than 100 species of birds and animals and was established in 1957 as a zoo. and later in 1982, botanical garden was added to it. it is also popularly known as guwahati zoo and is largest zoo in the north-east region.
