lachit borphukan’s maidam is a memorial built in memory of ahom general in the same name by swargadeo udayaditya singha in the year 1672. he was highly skilled military officer who won back guwahati from the mighty mughals. after his famous victory he passed away because of serious illness. his remains still lie here.
