rinpung dzong

rinpung dzong: also known as “fortress of a heap of jewels” or commonly known as the “paro dzong”, it was built by zhabdrung ngawang namgyal in 1646. it houses paro monastic body along with the offices of civil administration of paro. it is one of the classic example of bhutanese architecture. in your visit, you can see intricate wood work and be surprised by large beams fitted into each other without nails. annual paro tshechu is held here. the night view of illuminated dzong will mesmerise you.
