ugyen pelri palace: also known as palace on wheels, it was built by the then paro penlop, tshering penjor, in early 1900s. it is now residence of queen mother, thus closed to public. this palace is concealed in the woods enclosed by a wall on the west side of the paro rinpung dzong. it is designed after guru rinpoche’s celestial paradise, zangto pelri, and is a beautiful example of bhutanese architecture. the palace can be seen from above near rinpung dzong or ta dzong.
