limbukha village: known for bhutan’s famous red rice which is supposed to have medicinal values, this village of limbukha can be reached by travelling through the feeder road from punakha and wangdue. the locals here are peaceful in nature. the village can also be reached by a trek from punakha to limbukha which is of about 4.5 to 6 hours and a distance of about 14 kms. here one has to walk past suspension bridge and then gradually climb upwards towards dompala hills following the farm houses situated on the way. the village also provides some spectacular views of the punakha dzong, mo chhu and po chhu rivers.

 

talo village: lying at an altitude of 2800 m, this scattered village along the hilly slopes is known most for its cleanliness and hygiene amongst all punakha villages. the beautiful farm houses of the village have their own flower gardens. the people of talo produce maximum corn, which is harvested in the month of july and august. the women of talo are particularly known for their beauty.

 

punakha ritsha village: this village is famous for rice farming where both red and white rice are grown here. this village is situated on the banks of po chhu and mo chhu river. because of its unique location, the soil here is considered to be most fertile. in native language ritsha which means “at the base of a hill”.  each house in this village is of only two storey high and is surrounded with gardens and rice fields. this is one of the model rice growing village in western bhutan. if a tourist is looking for a tourist spot which is far from the hustle and bustle of the vehicle while catching a glimpse of rural bhutan, ritsha village of punakha valley is the ideal destination for them.
