lying at an altitude of 2,300 m this town was previously known as tongsa, this capital of trongsa district means new town in dzongkha. it is also known as the vanguard of the warriors. the first and second kings of bhutan ruled bhutan from trongsa. it’s a tradition that prince normally holds the position of the trongsa penelop before ascending to the throne. this town is situated on a steep ridge and offers spectacular views of the deep valleys surrounding it. trekking through the royal heritage trail and the nabji korphu community based trek is among the other things that can be done here in trongsa.
