national museum: the national museum established in 1928 by general bhimsen thapa located in chhauni on the way to swayambhunath stupa, houses many archeologically important collection like ancient weapons, arts and antiquities of lichchhavi and medieval malla period, decades old coins and fossils. after the recent earthquake, the museum has again opened up to the public so that they can enjoy its rich collections.
