thankot about 20 km from kathmandu, this village lies in the west of kathmandu in the bed of ‘chandragiri hill’. some of key places of attractions here include

• tribhuwan park, far from city and in midst of forest, tribhuwan park is popular picnic spot.
• narayan temple. a small temple dedicated to lord vishnu
• mahalaxmi temple, a two storied temple built in 17^th century dedicated to goddess lakshmi.
• chandragiri hill which is about seven kilometres from thankot is 2551 metres from sea level on clear days panoramic views of kathmandu valley & himalayan ranges from annapurna to everest can be enjoyed from here. however the most important attraction here is cable car service which connects chandragiri to thankot. the ride is of 2.4 kms and takes around 10 mins to complete. on top of hills there is a temple dedicated to lord shiva known as bhaleshwar temple, a viewing deck, restaurant, children playground along with amphitheatre.
